This citizen-initiated Resolve directs the joint standing committee on Health Care, Insurance and Financial Services (HCIFS) to convene a task force to study the issue and recommend a system of universal health care coverage for Maine. The task force will have representatives from the legislature, business, healthcare providers and insurers, consumers and other interested parties. The Resolve contains provisions that could produce significant cost-savings to the State and lower the cost of health care to individuals. Passage does not implement those provisions but only their development.
